Patriarchy & Feminism: Enemies of God’s Kingdom

Patriarchy is defined as “a system of society or government in which men hold the power and women are largely excluded from it”. Where patriarchy prevails, women are not only excluded from participating in society, they are also demeaned, undermined, abused, and oppressed. Patriarchy is the evil twin of feminism. Feminism, although defined as ‘women empowerment’, has a much more sinister agenda of provoking rebellion and causing division within the family. Neither patriarchy nor feminism is the answer to our societal challenges. The Bible says that both male and female were created in His image, blessed and given a mandate. The correct biblical and kingdom approach is for there to be a reconciliation of both the male and female genders, where no gender is promoted or empowered over the other…

Studying the Names of God

When speaking about God, we must keep in mind that the Bible uses general and specific names to refer to Him. “God” isn’t a name, per sé, but rather a general term we use in English to speak about a transcendent Being or the Creator. In calling God “Lord” (Hebrew: Adonai), we are recognising God’s authority over us, but Lord is really more a title than a name. It is similar when we refer to God as our heavenly Father. That isn’t His name, but as a title it does represent something intimate about Him, while also defining our relationship to Him. He is our Father; we are His children. In the New Testament, the term “Abba” is also used to signify this intimate relationship (Mark 14:36; Rom 8:15; Gal 4:6)…

People who need an organ or tissue transplant are usually very sick or dying, because one or more of their organs are failing. One organ donor can save up to 7 lives and transform over 50 lives. As an organ donor, you can save the life of someone who is suffering from a life-threatening disease or someone who was in a serious accident. Approximately 4300 people are waiting for a life-saving organ or cornea transplant in South Africa, but only 0,2% of our population are registered organ donors…
