If you’ve been following the news lately, you will have noticed a significant wave of celebrities who are turning to Christ. In what is referred to as a massive spiritual movement, the sinful city of Hollywood is turning more and more stars away from the lifestyles of excess, immorality, and self-promotion as they are embracing a new hope in Jesus.

The first question in most Christians’ hearts is how sincere these conversions really are. Many are quick to point out the bad fruits and lifestyle choices of the celebrities. Some are fiercely critical and condemn them, calling them false prophets. And others are filled with hope and a wilful desire for the conversions to be true. So, the question that many are asking is how should we – as believers in Christ – respond to celebrities who claim to be Christian?

A major problem in our country today is the malfunction or non-function of men as husbands and fathers. Some men try hard but don’t get it right; some don’t try at all – they are bachelor boys whose wives are no more that servants to care for the home and mistresses to satisfy their sexual appetites – hopefully! All this is at the expense of true intimacy and satisfying companionship, which is what God intended when He instituted the marriage covenant.

If we are to be the kind of husbands that our wives long for and the kind of fathers our children need, we have to go to the word of God and seek to apply its principles to our lives – both for our sakes and the sake of our families.

11 years ago, Louie Giglio released a DVD called, How Great Is Our God. This DVD went ‘viral’ and changed the lives of millions of Christians around the world. It was revolutionary content, showing God’s majesty throughout outer space. Louie was one of the first preachers to bring science into his message, which sparked global interest. This DVD was shown in Sunday Schools, Bible studies, Cell groups, churches, and even included in many high schools’ curricula. This DVD also sparked a worship movement, as Chris Tomlin released his song, “How Great Is Our God.” Now, a little over a decade later, Louie has brought out a children’s book based on this message.

Louie is the pastor of Passion City Church in Atlanta, USA. He is also the founder of the Passion events that occur around the world, and has held two in South Africa already. These events draw millions of young people and share truths from God’s word, combining science, worship, and preaching. I had the privilege to have lunch with Louie when he was in Cape Town recently, and had the opportunity to hear from his heart.

Countries around the world are engaged in the greatest war they have ever been in. It’s not a war being fought with guns and bombs; it is a war of ideologies. It is a war of worldviews. It is a war for the very heart and soul of nations. If we lose this war, we will lose our future. That is what is at stake.

We’re being told by public education systems, universities, media, some parents, and unfortunately many church leaders, that parts of the Bible are not relevant anymore and that we need to reinvent God’s word. So, with this situation, in order to understand how to fight this battle, we’ve got to know what battle it is we are fighting. What kind of things are we up against?
