In the landscape of Christian music, one local duo is shining for the Lord and allowing Him to use them and lead them for His glory. Frank Furniss and Johan Brits, the vibrant faces behind Frank & I, are extremely talented artists, yet their focus is not on themselves, nor on the pursuit of fame, nor even about their extraordinary music. No, Frank & I are committed to their journey of following the Lord’s guidance in all situations, allowing their testimony to be one of faithful humble pursuit of God’s will, wherever it may lead them. I was privileged to recently interview these two men of God in a candid conversation at our JOY! offices. Their journey over the last few years is not standard, and the testimonies that they shared inspired me. There are few siblings more well-known than the two we are looking at this month: Cain and Abel. Nor are there two siblings so morally opposed in their biblical portrayal. The spiritual lessons we learn from them are both negative (Cain) and positive (Abel).

The example of Cain and Abel really boils down to this simple truth: if you do what God requires of you, you are considered righteous, and if you rebel against God’s will, you are considered wicked…

The rainforests of Central and South America are home to the brightly coloured “jewels of the rainforest”. With their dazzling array of the brightest primary colours imaginable, the poison dart frogs certainly do adorn the forest like little jewels, being only ± 5 cm in size. But do NOT touch!  However, these poisonous little frogs are a testimony of God’s wisdom and foreknowledge. Things that at first seem completely destructive – such as deadly toxins – can be used to nurture life. What else would we expect from a God who gave His life to save ours?
