In this season, we are seeing a great deal of exposure of sin in the Body of Christ, with some well-known Christian leaders being revealed to have lived in ongoing sin over many years. This is not something to rejoice over, but rather something we should lament and pray about – both for these leaders and for ourselves, lest we too fall into temptation. A significant challenge arising in the Body of Christ is the division that such exposure brings. Those who speak out are often condemned and criticised, and many are confronted for “judging” fellow believers. The question before us is this: Is exposing sin the same as judging, or is it something God requires of us – and if so, how should it be done?
