If ever the Body of Christ needed to get actively involved in the nation – the time is now! The deeply concerning and shambolic state of education in South Africa is being exposed on an almost weekly basis. In fact, to refer to the current state of government education as a ‘crisis’ is an understatement.
Stable, functional and quality education is deteriorating at such a rapid pace that many analysts believe the entire government-run educational system may collapse within a decade. If you have trouble believing that, consider government education in the Eastern Cape.

Gross mis-management
Education in that province is completely dysfunctional as a result of gross mismanagement. In 2011, the Eastern Cape Education Department overspent its budget by a staggering R625 million. Their solution to address the budget crisis was to fire more than 4 000 desperately needed teachers.
And despite the Eastern Cape being the worst performing province last year, the 2012 academic year began with a teachers strike in protest against the 100 to 1 pupil teacher ratio.

National concern
A release by the Kwa-zulu Natal Education MEC revealed that 17 250 school pregnancies were reported last year. Apparently, teachers are responsible for many of these teenage pregnancies! The report also stated that raids are conducted at KZN schools where knives, cigarettes and dagga are often confiscated. You may also be aware of the textbook debacle in Limpopo Province, where the Department of Education took more than six months to deliver textbooks to schools in that region. Thousands of text books were dumped, instead of being delivered to needy school children. Other provinces are not faring any better. The lack of adequate school facilities is a growing problem across the country.

Education is no longer Biblical
Millions of schoolchildren are still subjected to appalling learning conditions – with some sitting under trees for lessons – while government wastes billions on fruitless expenditure. Quality teaching is at an all-time low. The question many South Africans are asking is this: “Why is the quality and standards of education deteriorating so rapidly in the country?”
The answer is simple - when the God of the Bible was expelled from the educational system in South Africa - along with His protective moral values and principles – we opened the door to every conceivable evil.

The ideological basis is warped
When you remove the boundaries and value-based education that instruct young people in righteousness – you have to replace it with something else. The frightening decline of educational standards and moral values in South Africa’s educational system is easily explained when we understand the ideological basis of our current education instruction. South African schools and tertiary institutions have become ideological battlefields. Two incompatible worldviews are in a life and death battle for the hearts and minds of our
future generations.

A Biblical worldview is needed
On one side is the Biblical Christian Worldview, articulating the culture of life, and on the other is the liberal secular humanist agenda that promotes a culture of death. Family Watch International, a pro-family watchdog group at the United Nations, released a report exposing the radical agenda of anti-family groups. UN Agencies like the United Nations International Children’s EmergencyFund
(UNICEF) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), with assistance from the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) are lobbying for explicit graphic sexuality education in schools of all the member nations.

The United Nations’ agenda...
Why this is particularly pertinent to you and me is because the South Africa government supports all of these organisations at the UN and votes in line with their anti-God and anti-family agenda. Sharon Slater of Family Watch International writes, “I am concerned that some of the policies adopted will cause great harm to adolescents and youth around the world. Positive references to the importance of mothers, abstinence and fidelity as well as references condemning pornography and prostitution were all removed from the final document. References to condoms, contraception and commodities all remained, with no mention of encouraging youth to refrain from early sex. Positive references to the important role father’s play and to the importance of the family in the development of children were either removed or corrupted by additional language.”

A radical plan to corrupt and destroy the youth
“Multiple references to family planning and abortion remained. Particularly disturbing was language that was accepted protecting the purported human rights of adolescents and youth to have control over and decide freely and responsibly on matters related to their sexuality, including sexual and reproductive health.”
This phrase is interpreted by sexual rights activists and UN bureaucrats to establish a right for children as young as 10 to be able to decide for themselves when, where, with whom and with which genders they would like to have sex!

Manipulated outcomes
As is usually the case, the entire negotiation process was manipulated from the outset by International Planned Parenthood and UNFPA. Their clear objective was to advance their agenda to force comprehensive sexuality education on the children of the world and undermine parental rights. Sadly, they were largely successful. UNFPA and IPPF were masterful at hiding the controversial elements behind comprehensive sexuality education, including the fact that it is intended to change the gender norms of societies around the world and mainstream LGBT ‘rights’ and acceptance.

Biased reports and statistics
Studies were quoted supposedly showing how sexuality education has been proven to reduce high risk behaviour and teen births. What they didn’t share was that reducing high risk behaviour to them does not mean reducing promiscuous sex, including sodomy - which has the highest transmission of HIV/AIDS. For them, high risk behaviour means simply sex without a condom even though they know condoms have high failure rates!

Parental rights vs sex education
IPPF planned to use this conference to ‘abolish’ parental rights to guide their children in sexual and reproductive matters, and as a result, the battle over parental rights became quite fierce. In the end a paragraph was adopted that recognised parental rights ‘as appropriate’ and limited those rights to ‘according to the evolving capacities of the child’.
This same paragraph, while acknowledging parental rights in the first sentence, basically cancelled out these parental rights by stating that governments’ must recognise a child’s right to ‘privacy’ and ‘confidentiality’ and that legal barriers (read parental consent laws and anti-abortion laws) to providing children with health care and ‘services’ must be removed. In the end, the chairman completely ignored the repeated protests by multiple countries opposing comprehensive sexuality education and presented a final document which still contained two strong references calling for sexuality education. Countries were then pressured to ‘take it or leave it’ !

Children are being indoctrinated
It was tragic to witness once again nations coming together to try to solve world problems, especially those relating to youth and children, only to find it a waste of time. Week long battles ensued between developed nations who tried to force their sexual rights agenda onto the developing world. Although the document could have been much worse, it was not a good outcome for the family and youth around the world. We clearly have our work cut out for us in future UN meetings to push back the agenda to sexualise children.
The Scriptures clearly instruct parents to take responsibility for their children and to instruct them in the admonition of the Lord (Eph 6:1-4). Proverbs 1:7 declares “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge”. The United Nations, influenced by many well-funded anti-God and anti-family organisations are working diligently to drive a wedge between children and their parents. The school room is the laboratory where much of the social engineering is taking place. Children are being indoctrinated with anti-life and pro-homosexual propaganda...

God has given us the solution
But God has established His Church to be salt and light in society. The Body of Christ is the only agency on earth capable of precipitating genuine and Godly social transformation. 1Timothy 3:15 describes the Body of Christ as, “The Church of the living God, the pillar and the ground of the truth”. This essentially defines Biblical Christianity - resisting evil and advancing the Kingdom of God in every area of life.
If the Body of Christ does nothing to stop this evil agenda perpetrated against our children – we will lose our future generation to the enemy. Edmund Burke said, “All that is necessary for evil to prosper is that good people do nothing.” The Church of Jesus Christ must stop talking and begin the process of rescuing education in South Africa from the clutches of the devil. We have God on our side. He promised He will never leave us or forsake us.

We are the standard bearers
Education is currently reeling under an onslaught of wicked agendas. But the Scriptures declare in Isaiah 59:19, “So shall they fear the Name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun, when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.” You and I are God’s standard bearers. We have to raise the standard of righteousness in our educational environment to ensure a better future for our children. 
